Sparkle 4 Governor
Texas's Favorite Transgender Politician
About Me
My Journey to Sparkle
Like many transgender people, I have dual identities.
I was born Glenn Higbee Williams, but have a court order changing my gender marker and name to Glenna Sue Williams. But most know me as Sparkle.
The truism frequently expressed is that if you met one trans person, you have met one trans person. Some trans persons were convinced at an early age that their body did not match their gender identity. I didn't question my gender identity until I was 13.
At the age of 13, I experienced bullying, and at the same time, I started experiencing gender euphoria. It is incredibly difficult to explain gender euphoria to someone who has never experienced it.
The closest I can come to describing the experience is to liken it to a runner's high. It is a feeling of all being right with the world and a feeling of invincibility. I am by no means the only person who has experienced gender euphoria. The eighth president of the United States, Martin Van Buren, was well known for dressing in women's clothes. In modern times, Rudy Giuliani was seen on several occasions dressed in drag.
I worked as a public employee for over 40 years. I worked as an attorney in private practice for an addictional five years, representing parents and children in child protection cases.
As a cisgender male, I ran for State Senate in 2017, I came in 3rd in the Democratic Primary, but I learned valuable lessons.
One of the most compelling reasons that I decided to run for Governor is the way the current anti-trans crusade has abandoned the essential child protection practices. I know from listening to countless hours of testimony that these trans and nonbinary children are not tricked or confused. They know who they are, and they are willing to do whatever is required for them to live the life that they are compelled to lead. I only wish I had transitioned at their age.
It took me almost 70 years to work through my gender identity. After finally reaching this understanding, I am not going to go back in the closet. The journey has been too long and too painful.

Sparkle's Candidacy Zoom Announcement
Glenna Sue Williams, aka Sparkle Williams, Texas's favorite Transgender politician, announced her candidacy for Governor on Zoom June 30th at 7:00 p.m. Central Time. Williams admitted that making the candidacy announcement on Zoom carried risk. "You generally want your audience liquored up, and you can't control that on Zoom."
Williams states that the main principle of her campaign is changing Texas from an exclusive society to an inclusive society. "Right now, the Republican definition of sharing power is allowing some select millionaires in the same room as the billionaires. Of course, they are only allowed to serve drinks. We need all adults in Texas to have input."
Williams acknowledged that she faces an uphill battle. "Transgender individuals have been blamed for the poor economy to the collapse of Western Civilization. Some people want to put us in prison, and others want to deny us medical treatment. I think it's important that someone stands up and says this is wrong. If the only person willing to do it is transgender, then so be it."
As a cisgender male, Williams ran unsuccessfully for the Senate District 5 in 2017, finishing 3rd in the Democratic primary.
Among some of Williams' more controversial proposals are the elimination of the death penalty and the legalization of marijuana. Williams invited one and all to her campaign kickoff. "Who knows what will happen. We may have nothing but Zoom bombers and zombies for Jesus."
